CHAMELEONS REP BASKETBALL
For the 2011/12 season starting in September, the Chameleons will be fielding various competitive level basketball teams who will participate in local and AAU tournaments along with exhibition games in communities across north america. These teams will be coached by experienced and certified basketball coaches and will be focused on the fundamentals of individual and team skill development.
The Chameleons will have teams competing at AAA, AA and A levels in the various Basketball Ontario sanctioned age divisions. The Rep program provides a high level of instruction and development for the athlete with practices 2-3 times a week and team selected exhibition games and tournaments.
COMPETITIVE "REP" TEAM INFORMATION
The Chameleons Rep program is intended for young athletes who are committed to learning and developing their skills and are serious about playing basketball at a competitive level. It requires a commitment from players and parents to ensure a successful season. As such, it is very difficult for athletes to play competitive basketball and another competitive sport in the winter season. Players are expected to put rep basketball ahead of any other rep team community sport. We understand that there may be situations that may take priority over basketball. We encourage coaches, parents and players to have an open line of communication in the event that a player is unable to make a it to a game or practice.
REP TEAM AGENDA & CLUB AFFILIATES
During the season, teams will practice two times per week for two hours each. Optional practices may be scheduled at selected times of the year based on the coach’s priorities. The number of tournaments will be determined by the coaching staff, team manager and the parent group. Exhibition games may also be selectively scheduled in on occasional weekdays or weekends. Many tournaments and exhibition games take place in the GTA. There will also be opportunities to participate in tournaments in Quebec and in the United States.
